Beth Dearborn’s gift—the ability to sense any violent death that has occurred in a dwelling—has been more of a curse to her, causing an emotional breakdown that changed her life. The last thing she needs is an overwhelming attraction to a handsome widower whose insurance claim she is investigating, or the sense that his dead wife was murdered in her own home.
The Gift edition by Deb Stover Romance eBooks
I wish Deb Stover would write a sequel to this book because I really LOVED Beth's ability to truly FEEL murder victims' last feelings. I would never want a "gift" like that, myself, but the idea is a great one for books. I want Beth to go back to being a homicide detective and use her gift again. And maybe Ty could try keeping her out of dangerous situations but, of course, he would fail at doing so because Beth is hard-headed. That would make for some more fun reading! Not that murder is funny, mind you. But Beth's gift was unique and a great hook. The sub-characters in this story were also very good. Each of them added to the plot and made me wonder who the killer really was. Deb Stover always comes up with engaging book ideas!Product details

The Gift edition by Deb Stover Romance eBooks Reviews
Good book. Could have gone into her past a little more but had just enough for you to get the jist of what happened.
I don't like it when writers assume we as readers are slow. I figured out the plot very early in the book and I found the "ah shucks" cowboy character as annoying as his counterpart and the dialog between the two main characters was contrived and simplistic. If people really spoke to each other liked that no one would get together let alone have sex with each other. Most of it felt condescending and stilted. That being said I think the writer had a good idea for a book but the execution was just lacking.
I picked this rating because I loved this book. I couldn't put down! It has everything I love; murder, mystery, supernatural, and romance. This book hooked me from the beginning and I would definitely recommend this book to people.
I like paranormal with quirky plots. Its a good read. Deb was a good and funny instructor. I learned and it stuck
Good read-)
If you like mystery romance, you will like The Gift! It's an easy read with likable characters. I plan on reading More books by Deb Stover in the future. One of the only things I disliked about this book and could have done without are the detailed sex scenes. I don't think they are needed to sell books.
Ms Stover also has a gift for immersing the reader into the characters' minds and emotions. She keeps the story moving, not dragging it down with an overload of scene description. That's not to say details are limited; they are quite sufficient to captivate and enhance the story. This story kept the mystery soaking in suspense, as well as the romantic attraction teasing the reader. Very nicely thought through and written. I look forward to reading more of her stories.
