Roland Yeomans is one of my favourite e-book authors. I'm not a great fan of e-books but I read a lot of them as Roland keeps coming out with another title!This is indeed a fast-paced tale, creating a parallel world of blood bank activity. I of course could picture Roland himself in the leading role. He's drawn on his real-life experience as a blood courier I'm sure. The main character, Luke, was sympathetically crafted. I liked him straight away - how he had struggled to find a reality he could embrace. Flipping through the pages at a fast pace didn't prepare me for the 'love' Luke found.
I loved the unique emergency drive over flooded roads to get the blood for a baby in need. Great descriptions here, interspersed with the truly spooky voice of Victoria.
I found the ending unfulfilling, but I think Roland has left us hanging, waiting for a sequel...

Great book! I couldn't stop reading it! I highly recommend it! It made see Blood Banks in a very different way )
This book was awesome! as a person who doesn't really read books because they have a hard time captivating my attention that was not the case with this one, I didn't want to stop reading it and when I had to for whatever reason I couldn't wait to get back into it!! Great book, awesome story line and on top of that it was free!! It doesn't get any better than that!!
It's difficult for me to read books on the computer - I don't have the patience. But this is novella length and very fast paced.
Right from the beginning, the story grabs you by the shirt collar and doesn't let go until the end. It has a unique plot with enough twists and turns to keep you 'turning the pages' to the conclusion, where there are a few final surprises.
Also, it was very interesting reading some of the actual details of what blood banks do and the protocols they have to follow. This type of setting could make for all sorts of new stories and I hope Roland uses it again in the future.
A very satisfying read and I highly recommend it!!!
I was hooked from the start. The hero was loveable in his ordinariness, which made his extraordinary behavior and abilities still sympathetic. I felt for him from start to finish. I was left pondering what it is that makes me human, unique. Would I be willing to sacrifice that for perfection? I don't think so. I down right cried during a scene with Eddie's daughters, and loved how Luke held on to hope. His perseverance a model for the good in all of us.
Fast paced and thoughtful, this story gripped me. The only thing keeping this from being truly excellent was the nice, neat package of the ending (I don't want to give the end away). Felt like an homage to War of the Worlds.
I would recommend this book to anyone. And I need to take the initiative and give blood.
